Through observation and understanding of the doctrine of the five elements, also called the five transformations, which relate to the seasons of spring, summer, late summer, autumn and winter, Dokmo and Penkova seek new insights into their artistic practice. Biljard takes a closer look at the elements Wood and Metal. In everyday life, the two elements appear in the way we deal with our relationship to the future and to the past. In imbalance, wood rushes forward, over-planning and ‘being ready’ without looking back, while metal, obsessed with perfection and value at every step, slows down in vanity and egocentrism. Two elements whose imbalances seem to permeate our society. The constant search for the perfect productivity methods and the quest for rejuvenation and spotless life-style. What is happening? What emerges in the meeting? Marie Kondo?

Through choreographic indications, Dokmo and Penkova undergo performative transformations linked to the two elements. They create a choreographic space for reflection on various comic, tragic, hysterical and deadly serious aspects of life where Intensified expressions and characters with strong emotional impact arise and interact with each other.
