BGL-podden is a podcast made up of in-depth conversations with dance and choreography artists from the Göteborg city and the VGR-region. Conversations about what drives them, how they work, what timelines have shaped their thinking.
When I decided to base myself in Gothenburg many colleagues in dance and choreography reacted with surprise: Whaaat? Why Gothenburg?! Who’s even there, beyond Gun Lund?
Five years have passed, and I’ve been continuously amazed by how rich and multilayered and, in fact, international and intercultural, the dance and choreography scene in Gothenburg and Västra Götaland really is. Though it’s not always visible at first glance, here lies the cross-disciplinary diversity we often speak of. You have to look behind, beneath, beside the corners and have a little patience. Then, the city and the region slowly begin to reveal their secrets.
I asked Gun Lund if she would mind me borrowing her name for the podcast title. She immediately understood the hint, and wasn’t the least bit offended, which made me very happy. Thank you, Gun!
In some way these conversations become an extension of my own conversation with the archives of dance. Entering into the world of others allows me to keep broadening the spectrum of my own interest in the field.
Välkommen till BGL-podden!
